“I thought the writer should be the most anonymous of persons. A writer who tried to become a public figure was usually a clown of some sort. All significant acts of the writer comes out on paper or a screen.”

“Well, others may have a different view of it. As if writers count any more in this world one way or the other.”

“Yes, the world has cheapened everything and is viral in that sense. More reason why the writer should hide himself away.”

“How can you publish and not be known?”

“It’s not a matter of being known. It’s a matter of being obnoxious and dissipating whatever creative energy in creating a mask of some sort. It’s better to write one decent story than to suck in all the air with the aura of fame and celebrity.”

“Oh you are simply a poor guy. Ha. One of million of poor dudes waiting out the sad sentence of anonymous life.”

“No, you see, it’s how he fights this, that’s the thing. It’s how he is large and noble in life regardless if anyone notices or not. That is the thing.”

“It’s all ridiculous without a large picture of things, one that you believe in at any rate.”

“Belief, aye, there is the rub. Belief.”
