“Driving today I thought “we’ve come a long way from carts in dusty roads.” Life is better. And I looked at the jet flying across the sky, the wires and cables from phone poles, the machinery digging and fixing all around the city. ‘I wonder what they would think if they saw us now?’ But then a sudden thought occurred to me. ‘Why then is life so difficult? We get to places faster, sometimes. We are healthier, at times. We communicate faster. But in the end we are still the limited creatures that life has programmed as problems, the kind of problems that make life a roaring hell or quiet hell, we have that choice at least, and we still break down and get up with the pressure against us not for us. Why is this and does the enhancements help or hurt in the end?”

“Only the future will know the answer to that and the odds are they will not envy us.”

And in a rousing voice a man said, “Then let’s live for today and today only!”
