Chapter 1

SPACE

One habit of thought was finding the center. Everything had a center to it and if you found it you had a bit of leverage. It didn’t matter what the geometric shape of a thing was, it had a center. The circumference of where you were at any moment had a center. The circumference of what you could see had a center. So I looked for the center or argued in my head for what I believed to be the center. This habit had me hopping from one place to another where I found I was in the same place given that I could see nothing but empty space. I did that until I gave up and said in disgust, “where I am has no center.” It produced a sense of dread and then I moved on and lived with it.
