Chapter 1 

The universe is violent. That was the first fact or truth I gleaned from my experience. It is violent at the elemental level and refines the violence upward. But it contradicts that violence with a deep-seated desire to get beyond the violence, to shuck it as a bitter skin. That was what the keys were for.

And nature on Earth wanted this violence and preached it in a manner of speaking to everything that emerged out of it.

Human beings were required to ask the simple question, “how can I trick this nature out of all this violence?

Build, connect, and protect. That’s what it came down to. But no, the violent tendencies of the universe still played on.

They were usually headed in the right direction but always believed it was a metaphor for something else rather than the thing itself.
