RED MUSE POEMS

Winsome
red air like a sweet honey
through great empty slate sky;
a lass in the sun
magically here
on the lonely highway.
The Red Planet.
Fresh kind shadow through radiant eyes.
She's one of those movies you see as a kid
and when she appears you instantly fall in love;
who is she?
She comes from the sand to be made into glass
by the sun.
Tumbling red mists through
which we see men and women in a series
of perfect poses;
an instant
at the center of the universes'
intention.
She has come out of the full canals of Mars,
delicate and shy, a burst of happy fire from the
ironic heart;
there,
out in West Texas somewhere
and West Texas never forgot her.
