POEMS FOR NOONE

By David Eide

Myth

Sedate city,
where eagles have broken the hypnotic sky
The re-awaken people save themselves.
Water revives them. A sudden rain washes away
the lies and games played on so many levels!

Once mighty city, broken by your myths!
Myths bind the people to machines.
Myths are depicted on the side of shaved heads.
Myths are sprayed against decaying walls.
The Grand City!
Myths carried out to the edge of its identity.

A hole burns where the center was to be.
And the man and woman chosen to save it
Are driven out by intoxicated mobs.
God walks in the middle of the City
He divides the people into the slayers and devoted.
