RED MUSE POEMS
By David Eide

Sultry Muse,
The poet will sing you a song.
He will penetrate your mask with a word.
He will unbutton your eyes to see down into your secrets.
He will casually seperate your lips with a sound
to enter a chamber of the heart.
He will race ten thousand times through your hair at the speed of light.
He will kiss the mask.
Tears will fall like hungry birds to yellow seeds on a pathway.
Milk will flow along abandoned canals where lovers gather.
And he will ignore your demands with sealing wax in his ears.
And plug up the exits where the soul is plundered by moments
time; a thief
Comes to steal a passion that connects at the eyes and begs for mercy.
And tastes of hair that has drowned in two oceans
