RED MUSE POEMS

By David Eide

When love perishes from the world
the earth swells in blood
and finds every poisoned root
spiralling  out of lust, vengeance,
greed and hate;
and fills every habitable mass
with an equal share;
until the nature of things reverses
is confused, chopped, decimated,
thwarted;
and thrown like angry sticks to the wind
