RED MUSE POEMS

By David Eide

Hands Up

Lovely Muse, stay forever with hands up
be intoxicated with love and hope and dreams.
Dance lightly through the worlds you have seen.
The poet prays for your heart spinning on the ice
          of moons, on a lovely stretch of white sands
where the poet buries his head.

Stay solemnly drunk/filled with poetry.
Let words leap through the top of your head.
Let a word  put an infinite design on you;
speak like a magic spirit released from bondage
run like a panther through crowds of tired hunters.

Mysterious Muse, vital moon of wild grasses
Intoxicant! The poet joyfully drinks so drink and be drunk
with tapered and slender hands over your alert, doleful eyes.

Smile once for absurdity.
