White-Binder Poems
By David Eide

The paths of a man; a sweet naivete
filled with paradise and dead heroes.
A terrible fall in the abyss of the hellish realms
A long climb back toward the sun.
A new confidence won o out of the strife in things
A kind of wisdom to initiate the second life.
All while the happy folk dance around the maypole.
All while they happily dream of images culled from
the best of television.
Paths of a man through the density of his tomorrow
played out through the fractured, unfortunate time.
Assassinations, wars, riots, crimes, adventures, bribery;
Paths of a man through the substance
of what is filled with blue light.
