RED MUSE POEMS

By David Eide

Smirky Vicki

And what world have you conquered
now? The world that defies Age and
pushes back the cruelties with every
gesture and thought;
even, becoming cruel to save
her wantoness just a few inches below
      her classiness?

But darling Muse, you are so kissable!
Let the Poet into you, open for him
permit him entrance into your space;
he will share your naughty chaos;
nothing is over
you still have it. You are still the
Red Eros, the Red Lake of Stupendous
       Desire cut deep into the Earth
  with a Poets Pen.

It slashes through the dark forest of desire.
And rings with a kind of wrathful climax.

Is that the secret of the smirk?
You know you still have it?
Well, good, it's true. Poet sees
fire, yet, in those dark eyes.
He sees lustre rising from the red,
silken hair

Ah, she knows what she wants and is
       going to have it.

After innocence, comes experience.
